Acute Invasive Pulmonary Aspergillosis in AIDS, pt RP

  • This patient has a right upper zone area of consolidation. A needle aspiration confirmed the diagnosis of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis. This failed to improve with itraconazole therapy.

  • After 3 months therapy with itraconazole, there was little change in the original lesion seen here on a CT scan of the thorax.

Further details

It is clearly a relatively small cavitary lesion, and the patient was almost asymptomatic. This response was a ‘stable’ response.
