Site detail:
The Medical Research Council is a national organisation funded by the taxpayer. We promote research and train skilled people in all areas of medical and related science with the aim of improving human health.
We fund high quality research in a number of ways:
by employing full-time scientists to work on important research topics in our own research establishments;
by supporting university researchers through a range of grant schemes designed to meet scientific needs;
and by personal awards for research training and career development.
The MRC offers a number of schemes ranging from studentships for early research training through to more senior fellowships for both clinical and non-clinical researchers. For a further list of grant schemes click here. MRC also provides information and advice on opportunities offered by the European Commission and other international funding agencies, as well as those international biomedical research organisations where MRC plays an important role in representing and managing the UK’s interests, click here for further information.
