Pulmonary aspergillosis in patient with AML and GVH

Case number: 



A 39-year-old Caucasian male, post allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), complicated with grade II graft-versus-host-disease, presented with cough, dyspnea and neutropenia with pulmonary infiltrates consistent with pulmonary aspergillosis, which progressed on 11 days of AmBisome; received micafungin for 180 days in combination with AmBisome for 117 days and with itraconazole for 20 days; completed therapy with a complete response and was continued on oral itraconazole maintenance antifungal therapy.
