Sinus aspergillosis in patient following intensive chemotherapy for leukaemia (Paediatric)

Summary:

A 15-year-old Caucasian male post intensive chemotherapy for leukemia, presented with neutropenic fever, pain and oedema of the nasal cavity, hyperemia and pansinusitis consistent with sinus aspergillosis. He received micafungin for 44 days in combination with amphotericin B deoxycholate and flucytosine, after failing a total of 9 days of amphotericin B therapy, he achieved a partial response on micafungin therapy by day 44 and stopped micafungin treatment.
