The European Medicines Agency have released a warning to doctors and the public that the major factory supplying the antifungal drug voriconazole has had severe quality assurance problems during January 2012. Several batches have had to be discarded causing a short-term shortage, mainly of the injectable form of voriconazole rather than the capsule form. Doctors have been advised to switch to the suspension form of voriconazole or if needed to an alternate antifungal.
